Happy birthday to Apple Computer. The company turned 29 years old today. Next year when it turns 30, the adults have promised to start taking it seriously.

The Federal Election Commission is looking at the role of the internet and especially blogging as it relates to campaign financing rules.

Curious Labs has released version 6 of the popular figural rendering and animation program Poser.

A new version of the BitTorrent client has been released.

We end the podcast today with a song in honor of Apple's birthday. From Frankfut in Germany, the band is Sunrise Richard and the tune is "Happy Birthday".

Radio MacGuys for Thursday, March 31th, 2005

In the gadget department, Buy.com has a short term sale on Bluetooth headsets. As I write this the current price is under $30; a bargain for these devices. It's just what you need to use Skype or iChat on your Powerbook.

Also in the gadget department, a company named Hokeyspokes has released a product that turns bicycle wheels into glowing works of art. You need to see this to believe it. We found the product on Gizmodo.

The Gartner Group, a computer industry research orgainzation has joined on the ""spyware is coming to OS X" bandwaggon. The story is covered today on news.com.

Slashdot is reporting on "Gimpshop", a new front end to the open source photo editing program, GIMP. According to the posting on Slashdot, the new package provides a "photoshop like" user interface. We'll tell you more once the slashdot effect is over, and we can download a copy to evaluate.

We end todays podcast, as usual, with a song. Today's tune is from a singer songwritter from Birmingham, West Midlands, in the UK. The band is called "Lucifer and Gabriel" and the tune is called "Solstice Eve".

Tomorrow is you-know-what day. Don't take things at face value. We're hoping to celebrate with a visit from the head fool himself.

Radio MacGuys for Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

It's a quiet day for MacOS news. I've been on the road today and had a quick visit at the new Apple retail store in Jacksonville, Florida.

From the PR Newswire; Archway has released Versacad 2005, a computer aided drafting package for MacOS computers.

O'Reilly Media has released a new book in their award winning "Hacks" line. The new book, Firefox Hacks,

We end today's short podcast with a song from a band down in the neighborhood of the Black Sea. The song is called Florida Blues and is from a hot Russian Band from Rostov Au Don, called "Electrix".

Radio MacGuys for Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Our favorite database system, FileMaker Pro, is in the news today. If you purchase, and register FileMaker Pro 7 between now and June 22nd, you will receive a copy of the FileMaker Applications Suite for no additional charge.

You thought that the Mac mini was cool, and it is, but check out the "picotux", a full Linux computer that fits inside an RJ-45 ethernet jack.

The Anti-Phishing Working Group is reporting that phishing attacks are on the rise.

Hilton Hotels have joined the iPod bandwaggon. Hilton is rolling out a new in-room alarm clock that in addition to other interesting features, includes a jack to plug in your iPod or other MP3 player. As a promotion, Hilton is running a sweepstakes in which they're giving away the alarm clocks, iTunes gift certificates, iPod mini's, and stays at Hilton hotels.

Tiger is still on our mind as we all wait for the release. Today, MacOS X Tiger is back to the number one spot on the most popular items list on Amazon.com. Today, we look at the changes to the Safari web browser in Tiger.

Radio MacGuys for Monday, March 28th, 2005

It's back. MacOS X Tiger is once again available for pre-ordering from Amazon.com. The new offer sweetens the deal with a $35 discount. Remember that this is a preorder and that the product won't ship until Apple releases it.

Our cool Macintosh product of the day is BluePhoneElite, a way cool package that allows you to control your Bluetooth phone from your Mac. Versiontracker readers have rated BluePhoneElite as having 4 out of 5 stars.

Brainbench is offering free certification testing until April 4th. They have a couple of MacOS tests available.

The two person crew of the International Space Station took a walk outside this morning. In their honor, we end todays podcast with the song Space from the group, trains to mexico.
