RMG174 - Hard Drive Problems
The American Red Cross
The iPod nano - wow. If you want to make your podcaster a very happy person, send me a 4 gig in black.
The new Cingular iPod GSM cell phone was finally announced last week.
Thanks to Jason for sending us a copy of the PowerMac "crash" sound.
We answer a question from listener Paul about hard drive problems. As usual, I recommend Disk Warrior from Alsoft.
If all else fails, Drive Savers are the folks to talk to. Be prepared to to pull out your wallet and open it wide.
Bill Staine's song, Lousiana Storm, should be the national anthem of the hurricane relief effort. Thanks to Bill for allowing the tune to be used in the Katrina relief effort.
Among the tech news coming from the Katrina is a storied in Wired Magazine about a group that wanted to bring a little independent information to the hurricane survivors, and got all the permissions needed, only to have the project nixed by the FEMA "Joint Information Committee".
If you're one of the tens of thousands whose life has been effected by the disaster, you can go to the FEMA web site and enter a claim, as long as you do it from a computer running IE 6 on Windows. In the "can they really be that stupid" department, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has excluded Macintosh and Linux users from being able to use the site.
Listener Pamala asks about how to fix an iCal sync problem with .Mac.
