Apple Computer, Inc. released their financial report for the 2nd quarter of 2005 in a public conference call with investement banks and other financial institutions. The short version is 290 million US dollars in profit for the quarter, 1,070,000 computers shipped, and 5,311,000 iPods shipped.

Slashdot is covering the antics of a group of smart kids at MIT who wrote a computer program that builds scientific research papers using random content. The program works so well that a paper generated by the program was accepted at a scholarly meeting.

T oday's troubleshooting topic is "Start Up Problems". Our tune of the day comes from a very talented musician who lives in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The artist is François Besson, the band is Light and Shade, and the tune, an instrumental, is Dutch Mountain Breakdown.
