RMG139-What's on Your Mac?

Happy Mothers Dayto all the mothers of the world. My wish is that every mother might be able to raise her children in peace.

My Tiger is enroute and I'm finally going to install a copy on one of my machines. I'm still waiting for the new edition of the Cisco VPN client before I can put Tiger on my production machines.

Tonight I talk a little bit about Ubuntu, a live linux distribution that runs on Macintosh hardware. If you're interested in Linux and want to give it a test drive, a Ubuntu Linux live CD is a good way to do it. Using a live CD, you can boot the machine from the CD, play with Linux all you want, and never touch the data on your hard drive.

Apple has released Bonjour for Windows. This is a zero-configuration plug and play network standard which allows machines on a local network to share services. Bonjour is the network protocol that allows you to share your iTunes library across your local network.

A listener left us a message on our talkback line. You can do the same by calling +1 (415) 367-3746 or by dropping us an eMail. April is a new MacOS user and wanted to know what software she should be shopping for. If I left something off my list, please let me know.

Todays podcast includes two tunes from Garageband.com. One is from a Massachusetts band called The Bee's Knees and a very beautiful tune from a Los Angelse band called Circe Link. My appologies to the band as I misread "circe" as "circle". It's late folks.

Say "hi' to your mama for me.
