Radio MacGuys for Monday, March 21st, 2005
Today we answer a question from a listener about an iBook problem. The listener thinks he has a noisy fan and we hope he's right but wonder if a failing hard drive might not be the issue. When we hear about a noisy hard drive, our first question is always "do you have a good backup?" If your drive is failing, you might try to do one last backup before it dies all the way, but if the problem is mechanical, it might just be better to turn the machine off and ship it to a data recovery service.
Our favorite drive recovery service is DriveSavers, who have, in the past, saved our bacon, and that of our clients. You can find DriveSavers on the internet at www.drivesavers.com or can reach them by phone at 1-800-440-1904. If you tell them we sent you, and use our referral code (DS10232), you'll get a small discount and we'll make a small referral fee; a win-win.
We hear the low growl of Tiger, Apple's new version of MacOS X. Is it about to be released? We don't know, but during the MacWorld Expo keynote speech, Steve Jobs indicated that we would see it soon. It's already posted on the Amazon.com site for pre-orders.
Finally, we highlight some upcoming MacOS events and end the podcast with a sweet blues tune from artist Joe White and GarageBand.com.
See you on the radio.
